For centuries the Andalusian horse has been bred for traits man has most admired... nobility, spirit, strength, beauty and intelligence.

Majia Clasico Ranch is the proud owner and supporter of the Original Andalusian horse - The Spanish/Portuguese Andalusian. These horses were the original horse of Iberia. Only after Spain and Portugal separated the stud book did the horse become known as the PRE of Spain and the Lusitano of Portugal, both purebred.

In the Andalusian Horse magazine, issue 3, 2006 an article stated; "some breeders ... have refused to give up access to the whole genetic package of the "Original" Andalusians. They wanted the freedom to continue to breed the 'best to the best' utilizing the already rare Spanish and Portuguese bloodlines. They refuse to recognize a geographic border separating a genetic code that is hundreds of years old."

The International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Association safeguards the rarest of Iberian bloodlines. The Spanish Portuguese horses are DNA tested with parent verification and must prove the lineage of Pura Raza Espanol and Puro Sangue Lusitano. Therefore, these horses are as rare and pure as any Andalusian horse in the world.

According to IALHA the Spanish Portuguese Andalusian make up less than 18% of the horses registered in this country. However, in spite of their small numbers, the athleticism and talent are evidenced by the percentage of National winners.
